Welcome

Welcome to the home page of the Broomfield Blitz Football Club.   The Blitz provides the youth of our community opportunities to travel and play competitive tackle football against other teams of the same age, skill level and experience level from the 7 year age level up to the 13  year old age level.  It is our goal to match experience and skill level of players onto teams to compete against players with similiar skill and experience levels from other youth football organizations, and in doing so develop fundamentally sound football players.

  • Champions willingly accept responsibility, and graciously deflect honor.
  • Champions may fail...but they never quit.

  • Champions see every challenge as an opportunity.

  • Champions dedicate themselves to prepare for success.
Broomfield Blitz aims to develop Champions

2008 Season Survey FAQs
by posted 01/19/2009

2008 Season, End-of-Year Survey

F.A.Q.’s (Frequently Asked Questions):

1.     Fundraising & Team Expenses?
a.     Fundraising will only be done on a team basis going forward.
b.     For fundraising approved by the Blitz Board, the Blitz will provide bank accounts that each team will be able to utilize our Not-For-Profit status.
c.     Teams may choose to do as little or as much fundraising as desired. All league expenses and standard team equipment are covered with registration fees.
d.     Reasons teams may choose to fundraise include off-setting standard player equipment expenses, tournament fees, special “Blitz” gear, special team equipment, team dinners, team banquet, etc…

2.     Blitz Gear?
a.     Currently The Blitz does not sell equipment or apparel. We encourage teams wanting logo-wear to order through Instant Imprints as they have our official logos and have been an avid supporter of our league.
b.     Individual logo-gear can also be purchased at Instant Imprints who run a special bulk discount program at the beginning of every season. We will better advertise this program going forward.

3.     Why does Blitz not provide equipment? ***
a.     Potential Liability Issues as well as costs from having to get the equipment inspected and recertified each year as well as storage issues. Players are expected to provide their own helmets, shoulder pads, body pads, mouth pieces, shoes, pants and jerseys.

4.     Can we get better Quality of Referees?
a.     All youth sports have this issue and it is important for all to know that it is a matter of relativity. The overall experience this year, expressed by the parents and coaches, was that the officiating had improved over other leagues. However, there are plenty of examples of opportunity for improvement that were pointed out during the surveys.
b.     Most complaints happen at younger ages where there are fewer referees at each game as well as the inexperienced referees learning to do their job. Older ages, and higher level of play get better referees. Individual referees are reviewed for performance. Good referees move up to better games and higher pay levels. Poor ones are either re-trained, or are dismissed.

5.     Confusion of Rules?
a.     The issue revolved around NFC rules differing from AFC rules.
b.     The Coal Creek Midget Football League (CCMFL) is working during this off-season to create uniformity between the game day rules of the NFC and AFC.

6.     Can we get sports trainers at home games?
a.     An excellent suggestion and is currently under review.

7.     How do we improve both the number of teams and quality of teams in CCMFL?
a.     This was a “Test Year” for a lot of the organizations. There was an overwhelmingly amount of interest that was driven by this past season around all of CCMFL, and most organizations expect to grow next year. In addition, other organizations are looking to join.
b.     Quality of NFC teams is an issue that will resolve itself over time as some of the other organizations begin to build teams and assign players to appropriate level of play. It is also hoped that at some point we are able to work closer with other leagues such as AYL for inter-league play.

8.     How are teams selected? How are NFC teams formed, and why do some players get moved to AFC teams?
a.     It is our goal to find the right level of play for every player.
b.     NFC teams are selected first. The coaching staff on each team chooses which players they feel will best succeed in that environment as well as create a team that will also succeed.
c.     AFC teams select the remaining players, as well as any players who chose not to play on an NFC team.

9.     Can we get better and less crowded practice fields?
a.     We will address with the City of Broomfield. However, this is a City issue as there exist only a limited number of fields approved for football use and the City decides when and where we are allowed to use these fields. ***** We compete with all other Broomfield sports organizations(i.e. BYFA, Soccer etc)*****
b.     Columbine was crowded this year, and we will try to minimize that next year if assigned those fields.
